I will give a more detailed race report later... Everything felt great until mile 24, I still maintained and finished just ove 1 minute of mt goal time.  The weather was brutal, rainy and a head wind the whole time!

More to come....

I am now sitting at work and I feel like a kid when Christmas is over!!!  There is so much build up and hype prior to Christmas and then BAM it's all over!  This is just like training for a marathon, long miles, early mornings, races, new shoes, lot's and lot's of GU's and the list could go on forever.  And then after just 3 long hours it's over!!  I really never wanted the race over until mile 24, I just wanted to be running the race.  My friend Dan always says, it's more about the journey than the finish!  I have met a lot of great people over the past 17 weeks, and I am glad that my wife had a full summer to train this year.

Split's for the race.  I typed a long race report and hit save draft & edit prev and lost the whole thing???  I may or may not retype it?

That's an awesome time, nonetheless!

Awesome! I have been staying caught up on your blog and living vicariously through it, but I don't think I can vicariously live a 2h50min marathon. Congratulations!

Well done!

Beating your goal today is awesome. Nice job.

From JohnA on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 08:54:18

Nice Job Tyler. 2:51, excellent time!!

From Tom on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 10:17:42

Tyler you ran excellent out there today in those nasty conditions. Probably worth better than 2:45 in last years condition. Who knows what your true potential is? 2:30 perhaps?

Look forward to seeing you around and maybe closing the gap in our speed differential :) And thanks again for letting us stop by your place yesterday, you guys were life savers.

Looking forward to the full report. Oh..and I think it's time to change the blog title.

Very good job today honey. I am still amazed at what you have been able to conquer in just one short year of running. It was the best feeling after I finished to see you at the finish line and know what we had just accomplished. There are many things that a couple goes through in a lifetime but running and completeing marathons together (not quit directly together :) is generally not on the "list of things accomplished". Aside from the time and work and occasional schedule conflicts, it has been a great year of training and I am proud to have you as my husband and to be a part of your life. Love you!

From Kim on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 10:49:24

Great job Tyler! You and Kellie rule in the hubby/wife marathon category!

From Andy on Mon, Oct 06, 2008 at 00:28:44

Great job. You went from a 3:30 in April to a 2:50 in October? Truly amazing.

Thanks for the great comments, I feel very blessed that I was able to run the race that I did today. It was so wierd to be up with some of the best runners in the state! I am especially thankful for my great wife!! She is very nice to put up with my NATZI running schedule!

Jason I plan on having you with me next year! I will help you train for a 2:50 marathon, but you have to show me how to perform a root canal! jk Thanks for the feedback!

Tom I need some help with the new blog title? Any idea's??? Thanks for the comment

wow! great time. way to make the most out of a nasty day!

From Tom on Mon, Oct 06, 2008 at 04:40:59

How about "2:30 Here I Come!", or maybe however you say that in Icelandic!

From Dustin on Mon, Oct 06, 2008 at 13:44:54

Great breakthrough race! I was really happy for you when I saw you come by looking so strong. You've worked hard and should be proud of your finish on a difficult day. Of course I was disappointed with my race, but sometimes it is good to be humbled and I'm sure there are many things I can learn from this experience. I'm already ready to start training for another one and would like to try to redeem myself soon.

From josse on Mon, Oct 06, 2008 at 23:47:16

WOW!! increadable. You ran a very strong race. Keep up the hard work and you will see great things to come.
