This morning I had intended on doing a 3 mile tempo run? How ever when I hit 3 miles I just kept on running! Kind of like Forest Gump :) Except I only ran 1 mile longer not across the United States.

Mile 1 - 6:17

Mile 2 - 6:10

Mile 3 - 6:12

Mile 4 - 6:04

Ave Pace - 6:11

I felt like at mile 4 I could have held a 6:10 for another mile or maybe I would have hit 4.5 and crashed???? Finished with a 2 mile cool down and then passed the baton on to my wife so she could get her run in for the day. It was very hot this morning as well.

Nice job Tyler! You really cruised on this run. I don't think I've ever gone longer than what I planned on a tempo run but I've frequently quit early like today. I need to learn to ease in to these runs by doing the first one a bit on the slower side then gradually speed up. Of course it would just be nice if I was just plain FASTER!

I was thinking you were doing some kind of 800s speed workout today at some crazy hour like 4 in the morning or something. I'll let you know what I'm planning for my weekday tempo runs and maybe we can coordinate at least some of the time and run them together. I know today if I had someone pushing me I may have been able to at least get the extra half mile in before stopping.

Since I'm running Provo River 1/2 marathon on Saturday, I think the only weekday run next week where I might push the pace at all will be a Payson Canyon downhill run (11.2 miles). I won't be killing myself on this run but I would like to average around 6:30 for the run and get a few downhill miles in around 6-min pace. Let me know if you're interested. The trick is making sure we have enough vehicles driving up the canyon to haul all the runners up. We usually all park at Pateetneet school then pile in 1 or 2 vans and drive up to just below the lakes. We meet at pateetneet at 5am and have been doing these runs on Wednesdays.

Also Saturday I think the plan is just to run 20 miles and average somewhere in the 7:00-7:55 pace range overall.

Of course I mean Saturday the 16th not this Saturday.
